Epcot Flower and Garden festival is one of our favorite ways to get excited about the long awaited transition from winter to spring. In addition to tasty food booths and beautiful blooms, Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt is a fun Epcot Flower and Garden tradition with a great prize.
What Is Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt?
Spike’s scavenger hunt takes place each year during Epcot’s Flower and Garden festival. Purchase a special map from one of several locations and then search for Spike, a cute orange, yellow, and black striped bee, throughout Epcot.
Find Spike in twelve gardens split between World Showcase and World Discovery. Once you’ve found Spike look for the plant marker nearby. Use the attached stickers to mark each plant on the map before turning in your map for a prize.
How Much Is The Epcot Flower and Garden Scavenger Hunt?
Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt maps cost $9.99 plus tax. One map is eligible for one prize. This means you’ll have to purchase multiple maps if more than one person wants the prize.
Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt Locations
I highly recommend searching for Spike yourself during Flower and Garden because there’s a special joy in finding him yourself. However, Spike and some of the plant markers are extremely difficult to find as the plants grow during the festival.
Here’s a complete list of the 2022 Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt answers. Use these location tips when you can’t find an answer or simply skip this section to avoid spoilers.
Pro tip: Can’t figure out where a garden is and need a hint? Search for gardens in My Disney Experience app and then use the map or “Get Directions” option to easily find each garden.
World Showcase Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt Locations
Kokedama Garden
Kokedama Garden is tucked behind the Bonsai Collection garden, which is easily spotted from the walkway. Here you’ll see Spike hovering next to a sign for an iris near some hydrangeas.
Spice Garden
Find Spike in this petite garden in Morocco across from Spice Road Table. He’s floating near a sign for a bright red pepper.
French Gardens
A difficult to find answer to Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt is in the French Gardens. Here Spike is hidden in a bed of lush roses behind the Remy topiary.
English Tea Garden
Find Spike and his camellia just off the main walkway near the English Tea Garden trellis. This was one of the easiest scavenger hunt locations to spot.
Tropical Rainforest
This sneaky garden is hidden on the right side of the Mexico Pavilion. Look for Spike on the left side of a wheelchair ramp surrounded by an incredible variety of orchids, which is the scavenger hunt answer for Tropical Rainforest.
Garden Italiano
It’s not much of a surprise that Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt answer in Garden Italiano is a tasty tomato. What did trip us up was Garden Italiano was closer to Germany along the walkway and not inside the Italy Pavilion.
Magnolia Terrace
Look underneath the Pluto topiary in American Adventure where Spike is hovering above a magnolia sign. These pretty white blooms adorn Pluto’s collar and this topiary with Pluto, Chip, and Dale was one of our favorites at the 2022 Flower and Garden Festival.
World Discovery Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt Locations
The Honey Bee-Stro
This was the most difficult answer for us to figure out during the 2022 Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt. We’d spent time steps away from Spike having a snack, but never noticed him. After looking at our map and realizing we missed him it was still a struggle to find Spike or the sign.
Spike’s plant at Honey Bee-Stro is canna. If you look closely you’ll see him and the sign barely peeking out above the plants between the bathrooms and Honey Bee-Stro food booth.
Bambi Butterfly House
Don’t get distracted by the adorable Bambi topiary and miss Spike with his salvia sign. The pretty topiary garden, characters frolicing in the field behind, plus the hectic energy of people lining up for the butterfly house can easily distract you from finding Spike here.
Prehistoric Plants
This is another tough Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt answer. The Prehistoric Plants area is very small and often people sit along the edge resting in the afternoon shade. Find Spike with a cyad marker here between Mission: Space and Club Cool.
World Discovery Playground
Find a sign for gaillardia in front of World Discovery Playground. If you keep looking behind the sign you’ll eventually see Spike well hidden behind some greenery.
Donald and Daisy Topiary
The label on the Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt says “Donald & Daisy Duck Topiaries”. While it’s true Daisy and Donald are there, it is actually a huge display with Mickey, Minnie, Huey, Duey, and Louie.
Find Spike and a daisy near Daisy Duck on the bridge to World Showcase.
Where Do I Turn In My Completed Epcot Flower and Garden Scavenger Hunt Map?
While you can buy Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt maps at several locations in Epcot there are only three where you can redeem them for a prize. Show your map to cast members at Creations, Disney Traders, or World Traveler to pick up your scavenger hunt prize.
Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt Prize
The 2022 Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt Prize is an adorable and reusable single compartment snack box. I think this is the most useful Epcot scavenger hunt prize we’ve ever gotten.
Choose from one of four character options while supplies last. Gardener Mickey looks ready to water his plants with a background of veggies and garden tools.
Spike, the Epcot scavenger hunt namesake, is also featured on a box. Spike looks ready to pollinate all the flowers on his bright yellow box.
Figment is joyfully holding his garden’s bounty and admiring a bright red pepper. Stylized sketches of Spaceship Earth and vegetables adorn the green background.
Last, but certainly not least, is Orange Bird. Introduced when Disney World first opened, this adorable character’s popularity has surged in recent years.
The Spike’s Pollen-Nation Scavenger Hunt snack box holds a lot and could even be used as a bento box. Being top-rack dishwasher safe makes me love the Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration Scavenger Hunt snack box prize even more.
