Quick Guide: Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass

Disney World has had several systems to bypass regular standby lines over the years with Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) and Single Pass unveiled as the newest options. Although similar to FastPasses and Genie+, LLMP is just different enough to confuse both new and experienced Disney World guests.

Disney World Lightning Lane Definitions

The new Disney World Lightning Lane system has three different categories, Premier Pass, Multi Pass and Single Pass

The most expensive option is Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This option lets guests of select Disney World Hotels use each Lightning Lane Multi Pass once per day at any time with no reservation required.

Unfortunately, the hefty price tag (up to $400 per person per day) makes Lightning Lane Premier Pass inaccessible for most guests. For that reason I’ll focus on Multi Pass and Single Pass in this article. Although these options are still expensive they are easier to budget for most families planning Disney vacations.

Buy Multi Pass ahead of time and choose to skip the standby line for three attractions. After entering the first Lightning Lane Multi Pass of the day, start booking additional Multi Passes with no tier restrictions.

Purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass and skip regular lines at the most popular Disney World attractions.

Lightning Lane Single Pass

Disney World Lightning Lane Single Passes cost on average $15 to $25 per person for one attraction. Prices vary by date and tend to be the most expensive when the parks are crowded.

Magic Kingdom:

Epcot

Hollywood Studios

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Animal Kingdom

  • Avatar Flight of Passage

How Much Does Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass Cost?

Just like single pass, Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) prices vary by park and by date. Budget $20 to $35 per person per day for Lightning Lane Multi Pass although we occasionally see prices that are a little higher or lower.

What Rides and Attractions Are Included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

At Animal Kingdom pre-book any three attractions when your window opens 7 days ahead for on-site guests or 3 days ahead for everyone else.

Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom have two tiers for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. At these parks you’ll reserve one ride from the top tier and two attractions from the lower tier. Once you’ve used your first LLMP book any available attraction regardless of tier.

How Do I Book Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

On-site Disney World guests can purchase and book Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass 7 days before their arrival. Everyone else is eligible to buy LLMP 3 days prior.

The morning your window opens go to the My Disney Experience app on your phone. At the top of the screen is a banner that says “Lightning Lane Multi Pass/Single Pass”. Tap on the purchase button.

Next, tap your date on the calendar and then choose the park where you’ll start your day since there is no longer a “park hopper” option.

After choosing your park a drop down menu appears. The first option is Multi Pass and then below are any Single Pass options for that theme park. Choose any combination and then click next.

Select your group and then continue into a booking system. Choose all three Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions and preferred times and any Single Pass times before confirming the purchase. This is a new feature that I really like because if you can’t book your preferred rides you haven’t already purchased a non-refundable LLMP.

Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass Tips

Book An Early Return Time For First Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot have a tiered system which only allows booking one of the park’s most popular attractions. However, once guests enter their first LLMP line this booking tier restriction is removed.

For example, I booked Star Tours early on our Hollywood Studios day. After tapping in to Star Tours Standby Skipper was able to book the other three tier one rides over the course of our day: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Have A Backup Battery

Booking LLMP, mobile ordering, and checking wait times on the Disney World app uses a lot of battery on mobile phones. Keep a charged battery backup in your park bag to avoid the stress of a low battery.

I prefer my Anker charger (affiliate link: Buy on Amazon), but Disney World Fuel Rods are a decent option in a pinch.

Download The Disney World App

Before your Disney World trip, download the Disney World app (Google Play or Apple App Store) and confirm everyone in your group is properly linked in My Disney Experience.

You can only book Lightning Lane Multi Pass or purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for people linked to your account. Avoid a panicked start to pre-reserving LLMP by downloading and double-checking friends and family a couple days before your purchase window opens.

Is Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass Worth It?

Everyone has different budgets and expectations for their Disney World vacation. However, I’ll do my best to help you decide if buying Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass is worth it for your next trip.

Magic Kingdom has the most included Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions, but also has the highest price tag. If you are only buying LLMP for one park, Magic Kingdom is my recommendation to avoid the most lines and feel like you got a decent value.

High crowd times like spring break, Christmas, and other school breaks make for incredibly long wait times. Budget for Lightning Lane Multi Pass during these times or expect to spend your day in long lines. Even with LLMP you won’t get as much done as a random weekday in January, but it makes the trip much more enjoyable.

If budget isn’t a concern, I recommend Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass for all four theme parks plus buying select Lightning Lane Single Passes. This combination is expensive, but lets you do the most during a Disney World vacation.

I recommend skipping Lightning Lane Multi Pass for partial park days and most low to moderate crowd days at Animal Kingdom (if you rope drop). You can also skip Disney World Genie+ if you plan on using Magic Kingdom or Epcot extended evening theme park hours during low crowd days.
